De La Salle’s extended school day and school year allow for a truly
holistic curriculum that addresses the academic, social, and spiritual
development of every student. A focus on the basic skills of reading,
writing, and mathematics is accompanied by classes and programs
that address the intense curiosity and amazing capabilities for
learning demonstrated in adolescence. A half hour of reading,
supervised by a teacher in school, is part of every day. Students take
religion classes and are required to volunteer. They are offered a
number of enrichment classes during Renaissance hour, in which
they explore the arts, different hobbies, careers, and issues uniquely
important to young women and men.
In the spirit of St. John Baptist de la Salle, our curriculum focuses on
the whole person. Our hope is that the curriculum at De La Salle will
nurture students towards becoming a competent student as well as
a well-rounded, thoughtful human being who is empowered to make
her own decisions about whom she will become.
